Outstanding Achievement in Sound Editing - Episodic Long Form – Dialogue/ADR

A properly completed entry form is required for all submissions. Incomplete submissions will result in the disqualification of that entry from the nominating process and will not be considered for Board Discretion.

Award Category Definition and Qualifications -

The MPSE will confer a Golden Reel Award on the crew demonstrating exemplary dialogue and ADR editing for an episodic long form project in a single category designated as Outstanding Achievement in Sound Editing - Episodic Long Form - Dialogue/ADR. Judging for the award shall consider the quality of these disciplines for each eligible submission.

Programming released via television broadcast, cable broadcast, streaming, VOD, or other on-line or non-theatrical means will be considered Broadcast Media.

Episodic Long Form is considered any program that has five (5) or more episodes which broadcast recurrently. This includes Made-For-Television Movies, Mini-Series, and Specials.

Only one (1) episode per series may be submitted per Supervising Sound Editor in a single awards year.

Running Time Requirement - 75:00+

Screening Requirements -

The submitting editor shall include screening times of two sections of fifteen (15) minutes each for a total of thirty (30) minutes for each program entered. These times (in minutes and seconds) shall be included on the entry form and will be used by the blue ribbon panels for nomination viewing.

Period of Eligibility -

Broadcast Media submissions will be judged in the year of their initial airing or release in the United States.

Trophies Awarded -

MPSE Golden Reel Statue Trophies shall be presented to the following positions on the winning production: Supervising Sound Editors, Supervising Dialogue Editors, Supervising ADR Editors, Dialogue and ADR Editors.

Crew Size -

For this category, the number of awards to be given will be one editor per act (or reel) plus two, e.g. for a six (6) act show there may be as many as eight (8) awards. 

Nomination Process

Any entry in the Dialogue/ADR categories that does not submit a complete application for submission, including an explanation of the Dialogue and ADR editors' work, will not be considered for nomination.

The nomination process shall follow the Broadcast Media Balloting Method described on the final page of this document.
